The Low Anthem hatched the beginnings of the their frenetic instrument swapping and harmonic styled sound over nine volatile months together in their Providence apartment, until tensions and divergent interests finally led to a band mate Dan's departure.
Bostonian and former NASA technician Jocie Adams soon stepped into the vacancy, after being asked to play clarinet on the final track for their first album, What the Crow Brings. Her fluency with classical composition and arrangement and her intuitive musicality would dramatically expand the band's horizons.
Miller and Prystowsky credit her for being largely responsible for new sense of harmony featured in Oh My God, Charlie Darwin.
David Ford has become known not only for the sheer passion he puts into his songs, but also for being a master at the layered/looping effects he brings to many of his songs. Following critical acclaim for his debut album I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused, the Kent born singer/songwriter managed to secure support slots with Richard Ashcroft, Ray Lamontagne, Suzanne Vega and Aimee Mann. Having amassed a significant fanbase on the other side of the Atlantic, he now counts Neil Young and Springsteen amongst his fans.
Brown Bird is an original five piece band which draws influence from Country, Blues and Eastern European musics. Brown Bird began over five years ago as the brain child of songwriter David Lamb and has developed into a miniature orchestra of harmonized voices and instruments carrying Lamb’s haunting lyrics on surging waves of Appalachian, gypsy, and shanty music. The group hails from Rhode Island and Maine and pulls from the talents of each member to create a diverse folk music that swells into high-spirited, foot-stomping madness.
